LES GETS - FRANCE-One of the best places for skiing

Les Gets is a French commune, located in the department of Haute-Savoie in the Rhone-Alpes region. It is also a winter sports resort part of the Portes du Soleil.
The village lies at the Col des Gets, separating the valley to the north of Aulps Taninges south.

Located mid-mountain (1200 m), in the Chablais, the village is very wet. Precipitation from the west are indeed still responsible for their water arriving in the northern Alps since have not been adopted by the Massif Central. Mountains were used in the nineteenth century pastures.

Les Gets appears for the first time in history between 1135 and 1140 in a charter of the abbey of dAulps. Among the cities borders, mention Ridge overlooking the Gets4. Between 1135 and 1185, another charter of the same Archives mentions "the chapel and the cemetery" Gets in the settlement of a dispute between the Abbey and Benedictine priory Aulps of Contamines5. The main activity of Les Gets, before becoming a tourist village (skiing in winter), was agro-pastoralism and the use of wood used as building material and fuel.

Currently, logging remains an activity practiced in the municipality. Indeed, the village organizes its tourist and cultural activities around the resources, including the "Logs" festival held annually.
Part of the town is heated by a wood boiler.
