Zhangjiajie Hunan

Zhangjiajie is a city in northwestern Hunan Province in China. It is located 400 km from Changsha,capital of this province.
Zhangjiajie prefecture is famous for its national forest park that forms (with Tianzi Mountain and valley Suoxi) the area of Scenic and Historic Interest Wulingyuan, listed since 1992 as World Heritage by UNESCO.




Park Zhangjiajie covers an area of 130 square kilometers and has a subtropical climate and an astonishing biodiversity. It is home to rare varieties of trees and several species of endangered animals. 





The new name of Zhangjiajie City was adopted in 1994, after the National Forest Park in the Wulingyuan Scenic Area in order to give it more prominence. 



The National Forest Park had been given the name of Zhangjiajie after the name of a small village located within its bounds, and now a popular tourist attraction within the park.
