Chichen Itza - Travel Guide

Chichen Itza is one of the most important ruins on Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. It belongs to the late Mayan culture and is located about 120 kilometers east of Merida in the state of Yucatán.
With an official area of 1547 hectares  Chichen Itza is one of the most extensive localities in Yucatán, among which stands out the great step pyramid. The center is occupied by numerous prestigious buildings with monumental religious-political background around it are the residential complexes of the upper class.
