Nottingham Castle was founded by William the Conqueror and his lieutenants. Celebrated in the Middle Ages as one of the most beautiful castles in the country, the original castle no longer exists. It was replaced by a ducal palace in classical style. Only a few remains of the walls and foundations remain today. A beautiful park surrounds.
