Canoa Quebrada is a beach frequented by tourists in the state ofCeara in Brazil, 164 km south of Fortaleza.
The beach is located at the foot of a cliff 10 to 15 meters to the sands of various colors. The village is very active both day andnight because of tourism. The population was born from the small fishing village of Esteves.The place is discovered by the New Wave filmmakers of the 1960s and has since suffered a culture shock which results in a feeling of freedom that continues today.The place became popular attracts members of the hippiemovement in the 1970s who found an isolated place, inhabited bya simple and hospitable people. Some settled there and married.We meet many descendants French, Swiss and European in general.
The place became the first tourist site of Ceará, an oasis amid the sand dunes, where locals and tourists meet in the evening on the main avenue that we nicknamed "Broadway".
Now, The region is protected as an "area ofenvironmental protection Canao Quebrada" local authorities havedefined an area of environmental protection of over 70,000hectares.
